Violeta Mora (Honduras, Costa Rica, 1990)
Central American artist based in Lisbon. Weaver of images, sounds and threads.
Mostly made in the diaspora, her films construct cinematographic spaces that more than portraying, evoke; transforming images and sounds into habitable territories and offering the possibility of the absent becoming present, even if only for a moment. She explores the properties that threads and cinema have in common and embroiders under the project Araña Lunática.
She is a graduate in Documentary Directing from the International School of Film and TV – EICTV in Cuba, the DocNomads master’s program in Portugal, Hungary and Belgium and holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications by the Central American Technological University of Honduras. In 2022, participated as a professional development fellow in the 67th Flaherty Film Seminar: Continents of Drifting Clouds and in 2020 she was part of the Intensive Program in Audiovisual Preservation of the Society for Audiovisual Heritage.
Her work has been screened at festivals such as Visions du Reél, Camden IFF, FICUNAM, Frontera Sur, CRFIC, among others. And in museums and cultural spaces such as the MAC Panama, the network of Cultural Centers of Spain in Latin America, the Museum for National Identity and Women in the Arts in Honduras and other spaces in Central America and the Caribbean, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, United States, Spain, England and Southeast Asia.

Violeta Mora (Honduras, Costa Rica, 1990)
Artista centroamericana viviendo en Lisboa. Tejedora de hilos, imágenes y sonidos.
Realizadas en su mayoría en la diáspora, sus películas construyen espacios cinematográficos que, más que retratar, evocan; transformando las imágenes y sonidos en territorios habitables y ofreciendo la posibilidad de que lo ausente se vuelva presente, aunque sea por un breve instante. Explora las propiedades que los hilos y el cine tienen en común y borda bajo el proyecto Araña Lunática.
Es graduada en la especialidad de Dirección de Documental por la Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV – EICTV en Cuba, por la maestría DocNomads entre Portugal, Hungría y Bélgica y Licenciada en Comunicación por la Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana en Honduras. En 2022 participó como becaria de desarrollo profesional en el 67th Flaherty Film Seminar: Continents of Drifting Clouds y en 2020 fue parte del Programa Intensivo en Preservación Audiovisual de la Sociedad por el Patrimonio Audiovisual.
Su trabajo ha sido proyectado en festivales como Visions du Reél, Camden IFF, FICUNAM, Frontera Sur, CRFIC, entre otros. Y en museos y espacios culturales como el MAC Panamá, la red de Centros Culturales de España en Latinoamérica, el Museo para la Identidad Nacional y Mujeres en las Artes en Honduras y otros espacios de Centroamérica y el Caribe, Colombia, México, Argentina, Uruguay, Brasil, Estados Unidos, España, Inglaterra y el Sudeste Asiático.
